Eric André's Youth and Education
Eric André was born in Boca Raton, Florida, to a Haitian father and a Jewish mother. His father was a psychiatrist. André identifies as both Black and Jewish. After graduating from Dreyfoos School of the Arts in West Palm Beach in 2001, André attended Berklee College of Music, where he studied upright bass. He graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Andre's Film Career
André made his feature film debut in the 2009 comedy "The Invention of Lying." His other film credits include "The Internship" (2013), "Popstar: Never Stop, Never Stopping" (2016), and "Rough Night" (2017). He also voiced Azizi the hyena in the 2019 film "The Lion King" and various characters in the adult animated fantasy series "Disenchantment" (2018-2021). Netflix has renewed the series for a second season, set to be released in 2020-2021. In 2021, André starred in and co-produced the hidden camera comedy film "Bad Trip."
Andre's Television Career
On television, André has appeared in roles on "Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23," "2 Broke Girls," and "Man Seeking Woman." He is the creator, host, and co-writer of the Adult Swim sketch comedy series "The Eric André Show." The show features elements of absurdity, black comedy, sketches, pranks, celebrity interviews, and musical performances. Guests have included musicians (Tyler, the Creator, Pete Wentz, Devendra Banhart, Killer Mike, Wiz Khalifa, T-Pain, George Fisher, Demi Lovato, Chance the Rapper, Dave Koz), actors (Ryan Phillippe, Krysten Ritter, Dolph Lundgren, Jack Black, Seth Rogen), and notable figures from various fields. In November 2019, it was confirmed that a fifth season of the show would air in 2020.
Andre's Personal Life
André identifies as an atheist and believes that all politicians are "terrible." He dated actress Rosario Dawson from 2016 until their breakup in November 2017.
