Early Life and EducationAmber Joy Mariano (née Brkich) was born on August 11, 1978, in Beaver, Pennsylvania, to Croatian parents. She attended Beaver Area High School and later graduated from Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, in 2000 with a bachelor's degree in public relations with a minor in broadcasting.
Rise to Fame: Survivor
Amber rose to fame as a contestant on the reality show "Survivor: The Australian Outback" in 2001. Her standout performance earned her a spot on the cover of "Stuff" magazine and a top-50 ranking on "Maxim" magazine's list of the world's most beautiful women in 2004.
Survivor: All-Stars and Engagement
In 2004, Amber competed in "Survivor: All-Stars" and emerged victorious. During the live finale at Madison Square Garden, Amber's fellow contestant Rob Mariano proposed to her. They married on April 16, 2005, at Atlantis Paradise Island in The Bahamas, their wedding ceremony featured in a two-hour special on CBS.
Post-Survivor Career
After "Survivor," Amber pursued a short-lived career as a host for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. She also appeared in commercials for brands such as Adelphia Cable, Rite Aid drugstores, and Mountaineer Racetrack.
Tontine and Media Appearances
In 2007, Rob and Amber launched a new reality show called "Tontine," where 15 contestants competed across seven continents for a $10 million prize. Amber has continued to make media appearances, including a guest spot on "The Bold and the Beautiful."
