Biography of Eric Justin Toth
Early Life and EducationEric Justin Toth, an American criminal, was born in Hammond, Indiana. He received his education at Cornell University and Purdue University, where he studied to become a teacher. During his time at Cornell, Toth falsely claimed to be a CIA agent, but his deception was eventually uncovered, leading him to transfer to Purdue University.
Expertise in Computers and Social Engineering
Toth was known for his extensive knowledge of computers and computer security. He had a deep understanding of both the technical aspects and social engineering principles. He excelled in manipulating different social groups and was particularly adept at using social media platforms to his advantage.
Connection to Child Pornography
Toth's education and interests were primarily related to working with children. The FBI's interest in Toth stemmed from his previous criminal activities. In June 2008, Toth was fired from a Washington D.C. elementary school after explicit photographs were discovered on a camera he had used. Despite this, authorities were unable to apprehend him at the time.
International Pursuit and Capture
Toth's activities were spread across various states in the United States, making him a difficult criminal to apprehend. In August 2008, his car was found at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport with a note suggesting he planned to drown himself in a nearby lake. However, no body was ever found, and the suicide theory was deemed inconclusive.
Authorities offered a $100,000 reward for information leading to Toth's capture due to his dangerous nature. He had the ability to cover his tracks online, combined with his background in education and pedophilia tendencies, making him a truly alarming criminal.
Arrest and Extradition
Toth was finally arrested on April 10, 2013, in Esteli, Nicaragua. He was extradited to the United States on April 22, 2013. Toth had been on the FBI's "Ten Most Wanted Fugitives" list since April 2012, ranking higher than even Osama bin Laden at one point. His distinct appearance, tall and slim with a mole under his left eye, contributed to his visibility, making it difficult for him to evade authorities.
It was later revealed that Toth entered Nicaragua illegally, using fake identification documents such as a passport, driver's license, and credit cards. He first crossed the border in October 2012 and left the country in January 2013, only to return in February. The local police began monitoring Toth during this time, leading to his eventual capture.
Toth became the 495th individual to be featured on the FBI's "Ten Most Wanted Fugitives" list, and as of now, a total of 465 individuals have been apprehended from the list. Nicaraguan authorities confirmed that Toth's entry into the country was illegal, and the use of counterfeit documents played a significant role in his evasion tactics.
