Biography of Ernesto De Curtis

Ernesto De Curtis was an Italian composer, born to Giuseppe De Curtis and Elisabetta Minnon. He was also the great-grandson of the composer Saverio Mercadante and the brother of poet Gennaro De Curtis.

Education and Career

Ernesto De Curtis completed his education at the Conservatorio di San Pietro a Majella in Naples, where he studied piano. It was during this time that he began his musical career and started composing songs.

Collaboration with His Brother

One of Ernesto De Curtis' most famous compositions is the song "Torna a Surriento" (Return to Sorrento), which he co-wrote with his brother Gennaro. This song achieved worldwide fame and has been performed by numerous renowned singers, including Mario Lanza and Robertino Loreti.
