Early Life and Education

German zoologist, ichthyologist, and herpetologist, born in the early 20th century. In 1921, he earned a doctorate from the University of Berlin for his dissertation titled "Zur Kenntnis der Knochenfischfamilie Chaetodontidae insbesondere der Unterfamilie Chaetodontinae."

Career

From 1921 to 1941, he served as the head of the fish and reptile departments at the Zoological Museum (Museum für Naturkunde) in Berlin. Concurrently, he held the position of editor-in-chief of the journal "Das Aquarium" from 1927 to 1934.

Political Affiliation and Military Service

The zoologist was a member of the Nazi Party (NSDAP). On August 27, 1939, he enlisted in the Wehrmacht (German Armed Forces) and was subsequently wounded in Poland. Following his recovery, he participated in military operations in North Africa and Yugoslavia.

Disappearance

During the war, he went missing in action in Yugoslavia, leaving behind a legacy of scientific contributions in the fields of zoology, ichthyology, and herpetology.
