Vladimir Vasilyevich Mokrousov (25 June 1920 - 25 July 2006) was a Ukrainian entomologist who specialized in the study of sawflies (Hymenoptera, Symphyta).
Early Career
Born in 1920, Mokrousov began his entomological career in 1944 as a member of the Department of Invertebrate Zoology at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. He worked under the guidance of Professor A. P. Markevich, a leading entomologist.
Work at the Institute of Zoology
In 1959, Mokrousov joined the Department of General and Applied Entomology at the Institute of Zoology named after I. I. Schmalhausen of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in Kyiv. He remained there until 2004.
Contributions to Science
Mokrousov made significant contributions to the study of sawflies. He described numerous new species and subgenera, and his work expanded the understanding of their taxonomy and systematics. His research also focused on the biogeography of sawflies and their ecological relationships with other organisms.
Legacy
