Early Life and Education
A native of Switzerland, Giuseppe Motta earned a law degree upon completion of his education.
Judicial Career
Motta served as a judge in the Ticino Appeals Court from 1893 to 1896. In 1922, he was elevated to the Federal Court, where he remained until 1924.
Political Ascents
Representation in Local and National GovernmentsGiuseppe Motta's political career began with his entry into the Great Council of Ticino, which he served in 1893, 1897-1905, 1913-1917, and 1902 and 1913 as its president. He was also a member of the Swiss National Council from 1909 to 1922 and the Council of Cantons from 1905 to 1912 and 1917 to 1921.
Presidency of the National Council
As a member of the Radical Democratic Party, Motta rose to become President of the National Council, a position he held from 1920 to 1921.
