Biography of Evgeny Paperny
Childhood and YouthEvgeny Paperny, a Ukrainian theater and film actor, fell in love with art at a young age and dedicated half a century to theater and cinema. He appeared in plays, starred in films, voiced and dubbed movies, and also passed on his knowledge of the profession to aspiring stars. Paperny was born on September 3, 1950, in the city of Nizhnya Tura, north of Sverdlovsk (now Ekaterinburg). He dreamed of connecting his biography with cinematography since the age of 12. As a teenager, he read various literature and skipped classes to watch movies on the big screen. With one ticket, the clever boy watched three films in a row, hiding in an empty hall between screenings. Seeing his favorite actors on screen, Paperny imagined himself in their place. After finishing school, he went to Moscow and applied to the All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography (VGIK), but failed the audition. Upon returning to Nizhnya Tura, the young man took a job as an electrician at the local power plant, but he did not abandon his childhood dream of cinema. For a year, Evgeny participated in a local drama club and diligently prepared for new exams. Returning to the capital again, Paperny submitted applications to several theater universities and ultimately got accepted into the Shchukin School, in Anatoly Borisov's acting workshop. On his course, the student became acquainted with Olga Naumenko and Yevgeny Gerasimov, and also befriended Yuri Bogatirev and Konstantin Raikin, who were studying in the senior class. After receiving his diploma in 1972, the aspiring actor was invited to the companies of the Moscow Art Theatre and the Satire Theatre, but due to personal circumstances, he chose the Kiev Drama Theatre. Evgeny Vasilyevich currently resides in the capital of Ukraine.
Theater, Film, and Dubbing
Paperny appeared on the stage of the Kiev theater for 23 years. His repertoire included plays such as "Camille" (The Lady of the Camellias), "Wit Works Woe" (Misfortune from Wit), "White Crow," and other productions. The performer referred to himself as a free artist, and academic theater as a prison, preferring entrepreneurship. Evgeny's first project in his filmography appeared in 1976, thanks to the military drama "Aty-Baty, Soldiers Were Marching." However, the debutante had such a tiny role that his name was not mentioned in the credits. Afterwards, the actor appeared in numerous Soviet, Russian, and Ukrainian feature films and TV series. For example, he acted in films such as "Utesov: The Song of Life," "The Female Doctor," "Svaty" (Matchmakers), and many others. However, Paperny gained the most fame through the dubbing of cartoons and the dubbing of foreign films into Russian and Ukrainian. Characters in "Alice in Wonderland," "Alice Through the Looking Glass," and "Doctor Aibolit" speak with the voice of this cinema star. The native of the Sverdlovsk region has also demonstrated his vocal abilities on several occasions. For example, together with Zinovy Gerdt, he performed songs in the animated series "The Adventures of Captain Vrungel." Among the actor's most beloved works by the audience is the animated TV movie "Treasure Island" based on the novel of the same name by Robert Louis Stevenson. The pirates were voiced by Armenian Djigarhanyan, Yuri Yakovlev, Viktor Andrienko, and other celebrities.
Personal Life
During his first year at the Shchukin School, Paperny met Lydia Yaremchuk when he came to Kiev for a friend's wedding. The girl was studying together with the groom and was already appearing on the stage of the local drama theater. The actors got married a year later, so until the completion of his studies in Moscow, Paperny had to live in two cities. Later, the spouses became colleagues in the same theater company. The first wife gave birth to a daughter to Evgeny Vasilyevich. The actor's marriage lasted for 16 years, but the spouses were too different. In his youth, the native of the Sverdlovsk region enjoyed late-night gatherings with friends, a lifestyle that did not suit the well-read intellectual. After the divorce, the actor left the apartment to his ex-wife and their eldest daughter.
In the second half of the 1980s, only Olga Sumska, who had just graduated from the institute, joined the Kiev Drama Theatre. Paperny fell in love with the new actress at first sight but was initially embarrassed by the 16-year age difference, although it turned out to be in vain: as it turned out, the age difference did not bother the girl. In 1987, the colleagues on stage got married, and in the beginning, they lived in a rented accommodation. In the summer of 1990, the couple had a daughter, Antonina Papernaya. A year later, the family fell apart. The actor admitted that he was constantly jealous of his chosen one, who attracted many suitors, and his fears were justified. Olga started a romance with Vitaly Borisyuk, with whom she played a couple in one of the plays. Upon learning about the infidelity, Evgeny Vasilyevich even raised his hand against his second wife and has not forgiven her to this day. Sumska, on the other hand, recalled that during their marriage, the actor often got drunk, which made him aggressive. Subsequently, the celebrity married Borisyuk.
Paperny did not remain alone either. His current wife, Tatiana, works as a film editor and is raising their son, Denis.

In the autumn of 2021, Dr. Livsey experienced a wave of popularity when he became the subject of memes on Russian social media. Telegram channels and VKontakte groups were filled with pictures where one half showed the character from "Treasure Island" smiling widely at the audience, while the other half depicted his dark side and true thoughts.
