Early Career at LanúsEzequiel Carboni began his football journey at Lanús, his boyhood club in Argentina. Making his debut in the senior team in 1998, he quickly established himself as a key player, captaining the side for five seasons. During his tenure, Carboni accumulated 189 appearances and scored two goals.
Move to Red Bull Salzburg
In 2005, Carboni embarked on a new chapter, joining Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg. The transfer fee reached €1 million, and Carboni spent three seasons with the Austrian giants. During his stint, he achieved the pinnacle of Austrian football by winning the league championship in 2007. His performances also earned him a debut in the prestigious UEFA Champions League, where he played a pivotal role in a memorable 1-0 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk.
Arrival at Catania
Becoming a free agent in 2008, Carboni signed a three-year contract with Italian club Catania. While an injury hampered his start, he soon recovered and became a regular in the lineup. His contribution to Catania's midfield was significant, helping the team establish a solid foundation.
International Career
Carboni represented Argentina at the under-21 level, winning the South American Championship in 1998. Despite expressing a desire to adopt Austrian citizenship and play for the Austrian national team while in Austria, Carboni ultimately did not fulfill this ambition.
