Biography of Facundo Cabral

Argentinian singer and songwriter Facundo Cabral was born in 1937 in La Plata, Argentina. He had a difficult childhood, as his father abandoned the family, and he had to work hard from a young age to support his mother and six siblings. Cabral traveled extensively throughout the country, performing folk songs and his own compositions, which eventually reached millions of people and made him a legend in Latin American countries.

Early Career and Rise to Fame

Cabral's career as a musician began when the owner of a hotel in Mar del Plata, Argentina, heard him playing the guitar and gave him a chance to perform in front of an audience. His breakthrough came in 1970 with the release of his hit song "No soy de aqui, ni soy de alla" ("I'm neither from here nor there"). This brought him fame and recognition not only in Argentina, but also in Peru and Mexico, which he considered his second home.

At the time of his death, Cabral had been married to Silvia Pousa, a psychologist from Venezuela, for seven months. They had been partners for the past ten years.
