Faig Aghaliyev: An Azerbaijani National Hero
Faig Aghaliyev, a valiant police officer, was born on June 6, 1969, in the village of Papravand, Aghdam district, in the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic. In 1986, he completed his secondary education and served in the Soviet Army.
Return to Homeland and Police Service
Upon completing his military service in 1989, Aghaliyev returned to his native village. Recognizing the need to protect his community, he joined the Aghdam district police department in September 1990. His unwavering commitment to law enforcement would serve as the foundation for his heroic actions.
Valor in the Karabakh War
The early 1990s marked the outbreak of the Karabakh War, and Aghaliyev found himself on the front lines, fighting bravely against the invading forces. In December 1991, during a fierce battle for the village of Mesheli, he made the ultimate sacrifice.
Posthumous Honor
On October 8, 1992, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan issued Decree No. 264, posthumously conferring upon Faig Aghaliyev the prestigious title of National Hero of Azerbaijan. His unwavering dedication and heroic sacrifice continue to inspire future generations.
