Faig Mursagulov: A Pioneer Azerbaijani Mountaineer

Early Life and Lineage

Faig Mursagulov is an accomplished Azerbaijani mountaineer who inherited his passion for climbing from his father, Saridan Mursagulov, the head of the Republican Mountaineering Club.

Mountaineering Achievements

Throughout his career, Faig Mursagulov has successfully ascended peaks in various mountain ranges, including:

North America: Mount McKinley

On June 6, 2005, Mursagulov became one of the first Azerbaijanis to summit Mount McKinley in Alaska, North America. The ascent via the West Buttress route was completed by a team of seven climbers, including Israfil Ashurly.

Turkey: Mount Ararat

In 2006, Mursagulov joined an international team of mountaineers from Azerbaijan, Belgium, Iran, Hungary, Croatia, Macedonia, Serbia, and Montenegro in ascending Mount Ararat (Ağrı Dağ) in Turkey. The expedition commemorated the 125th anniversary of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's birth.

Europe: Mount Elbrus

In honor of the 60th anniversary of the Elbrus sports and training base, Mursagulov and his father, Saridan Mursagulov, along with other Azerbaijani climbers, reached the summit of Mount Elbrus in Europe on July 16, 2007.

Iran: Mount Sabalan

In June 2008, Mursagulov participated in a successful ascent of Mount Sabalan in Iran with his father and other Azerbaijani mountaineers. This expedition paid tribute to the 85th anniversary of the late Heydar Aliyev.
