Early Life and Influences

Born into an Irish expatriate family, Félicie de Vigne (née Fallon) embarked on her artistic journey at a tender age. Guided by her passion for painting, she enrolled at the Brussels Academy of Fine Arts to study drawing under the tutelage of renowned artist François-Joseph Navez.

Artistic Career

Vigne's artistic repertoire spanned diverse genres, including portraiture, family scenes, and historical subjects. Her talent earned her commissions from the Belgian royal family, including several portraits of Queen Louise Marie of Orléans.

Marriage and Legacy

In 1836, Vigne married the Belgian engraver Guillaume Geefs. Her brothers-in-law, Erin Corr and Henry Corr, were also accomplished artists and engravers. Upon Vigne's passing, her valuable collection of artworks was acquired by the Belgian Royal Library.

Notable Accomplishments

Throughout her career, Vigne's unwavering determination and artistic prowess left an enduring mark on the Belgian art scene. Her contributions to portraiture, family life, and historical depictions earned her a prominent place in the annals of Belgian art.
