Rachid Guseynov: Azerbaijan's Prolific Striker

Early Career and Rise to Prominence

Rachid Guseynov began his professional football career in 2003 with Baku Dynamo, later renamed Baku. He also played for Karabakh and Mugan during the early stages of his career. In 2009, he joined Standard Sumgayit, where he established himself as the team's starting striker.

Record-Breaking Season and Move to Neftchi

During the 2008/09 season, Guseynov scored 9 goals in 9 matches for Standard Sumgayit. The following season, he led the league in scoring despite his team's poor performance. In the final two matches of the season, he netted 7 goals and ended up as the top scorer with 16 goals.

Guseynov's impressive performance earned him a move to Neftchi Baku before the start of the 2010/11 season. However, he failed to secure a regular spot in the starting lineup. Although Neftchi won the championship that season, Guseynov finished the campaign on loan at Simurg.

Later Career and National Team Appearances

In subsequent seasons, Guseynov played for various clubs in Azerbaijan, including Araz, where he won the first division title in 2013/14. He also had brief stints in Turkey with Kahramanmaraspor (2013) and Yimpas Yozgatspor (2016).

Guseynov represented the Azerbaijan national team in 2010. He made his debut against Jordan in February and scored his first international goal against Luxembourg in March. In total, he played 7 matches for his country, including one in the Euro 2012 qualifiers.
