Early Life and Training
Born in Rouen, France to Moroccan immigrants, Faycal Fajr began his football journey at the local amateur club Sotteville-lès-Rouen. In 2000, he joined the youth academy of the professional club Le Havre. However, after three years, he was released due to perceived physical limitations for a professional career.
Return to Rouen and Amateur Success
Undeterred, Fajr returned home to Rouen, where he spent two years before signing with AS Wasquehal in 2005. With Wasquehal, he won the Championnat de France Amateur.
Aufstieg through the French Divisions
In 2008, Fajr's career took a significant turn as he signed for Fréjus Saint-Raphaël. He made 29 appearances and scored four goals in his debut season, helping Fréjus earn promotion to the third division of French football.
Breakthrough at Fréjus
In the following season, Fajr emerged as a regular starter. He played 29 matches and contributed to Fréjus' mid-table finish. In his final year with the club, he became their primary playmaker, appearing in 34 games and netting eight goals, pushing Fréjus to a sixth-place finish.
Transfer to Ligue 1
Fajr's performances at Fréjus attracted the attention of several professional clubs, including Nice, Dijon, and Reims. On July 18, 2011, it was confirmed that he would join Ligue 1 side Caen on a three-year deal.
Debut and Goalscoring Success
Fajr made his Ligue 1 debut on August 28 against Rennes. Three days later, he scored his first goal for Caen in the Coupe de France against Brest. Although Caen was relegated to Ligue 2 that season, Fajr returned to the top flight two years later, contributing eight goals in 35 appearances during the 2013/14 season.
Move to Spain
In June 2014, Fajr underwent a medical and signed for Spanish club Elche. He made his La Liga debut as a substitute against Barcelona on August 24.
Loan to Deportivo La Coruña
On August 6, 2015, Fajr was loaned to Deportivo La Coruña for one year.
