Biography of Fedor Radchuk

Fedor Radchuk, a renowned Ukrainian actor, was born on January 2, 1902, in the village of Okunin, which is now part of the Volyn Oblast in Ukraine. He graduated from the drama school at the Society of People's Theatres and Arts in Kyiv in 1921.

In 1920, Radchuk joined the 1st State Ukrainian Drama Theater named after T. Shevchenko. From 1922 to 1965, he worked as an actor in the "Berezil" theater, which later became the Kharkiv Ukrainian Drama Theater named after T.G. Shevchenko.

Radchuk was known for his expressive acting style, and his creative individuality was most fully realized in his characteristic roles. He portrayed well-defined characters with a sharply emphasized external nature. Some of his notable roles include Prokop in "General Vatutin" (Dmiterko, Stalin Prize, 1948), Iago and Gravedigger in Shakespeare's "Othello" and "Hamlet," Baev in Virt's "Earth," Bublik and Lizogub in Korneichuk's "Platon Krechet" and "Bohdan Khmelnytsky," Tevye in Sholom Aleichem's "Tevye the Milkman," Osip in Gogol's "The Government Inspector," Chugunov in Ostrovsky's "Wolves and Sheep," and many others.

In addition to his theater work, Radchuk also appeared in films produced by the Kiev Film Studio. He was also the author of memoirs about Les Kurbas, which were published in 1969.
