Early Life and Education
Alberto Aido, an Italian violinist of Spanish descent, began his musical journey at the Bilbao Conservatory. He subsequently pursued further studies in Paris and eventually became a student of Remy Principe at the renowned Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome.
I Musici and the Beethoven Quartet
In 1952, Aido played a pivotal role in the founding of the chamber orchestra I Musici. For the first 15 years of its existence, he served as both concertmaster and artistic director, showcasing the orchestra's unique conductorless approach. From 1968 to 1970, he primarily performed as part of the Italian Beethoven Piano Quartet, alongside renowned conductor Marcello Abbado.
Teaching and Solo Career
Beginning in 1972, Aido assumed a teaching position at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. In addition to his pedagogical endeavors, he continued to give concerts with various orchestras. From 1983 onwards, he also emerged as a skilled conductor.
Notable Performances and Recognition
Alberto Aido is particularly celebrated for his performances of Antonio Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons" and Johann Sebastian Bach's sonatas and suites. His exceptional artistry earned him the prestigious Premio San Michele in 2003, an award bestowed in Trieste to recognize his significant contributions to Italian music.
