Biography of Ferit Sahenk

Ferit Sahenk is a billionaire and a renowned figure in Turkey. He is the Chairman of the conglomerate Dogus Holding and is considered one of the wealthiest individuals in the country. Sahenk is a highly educated professional, having obtained a degree in marketing from Boston College in 1989.

Early Career

After completing his studies at college, Sahenk returned to Istanbul and immediately started working at Dogus' Garanti Bank. In 2004, he sold a portion of Garanti Bank to General Electric for $1.5 billion. Sahenk's career quickly flourished, and he became the owner of two retail food chains, as well as the manager of the company NTV.

Expansion and Success

Understanding the importance of diversification, Sahenk created several divisions within Dogus Holding to ensure the company's success. Over time, the company's revenues skyrocketed, reaching $5.7 billion by 1999. In May 2000, Sahenk expanded the company's operations into the banking sector and later ventured into insurance, leasing, and various other financial services.

Current Endeavors

Today, Dogus Holding has a capital of approximately $2.5 billion and a turnover of $6 billion. The company employs 18,000 individuals and Sahenk holds more than 10% of the country's advertising market. Additionally, Sahenk also manages several media outlets.

Turkish-U.S. Business Council

In May 2006, Sahenk was elected as the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Turkish-U.S. Business Council. This council focuses on developing and strengthening trade and business relations between Turkey and the United States.
