Biography of Fernando Vallejo

Fernando Vallejo is a Colombian biologist, writer, film director, and screenwriter. He was born into a prominent Colombian political family and grew up with aspirations of becoming a musician. However, he later pursued studies in philology and biology.

Vallejo's passion for the natural world led him to travel extensively throughout Europe, immersing himself in different cultures and environments. During his explorations, he spent a year studying at the Film Academy in Rome, Italy, where he developed his skills as a filmmaker.

Driven by his deep concern for the environment, Vallejo actively participates in the ecological movement and advocates for animal rights. He has been a vocal critic of the Catholic Church, expressing his sharp criticism of its practices and beliefs.

In 1971, Vallejo relocated to Mexico, where he has been residing ever since. In 2007, he obtained Mexican citizenship. Throughout his career, Vallejo's literary works have been translated into numerous languages, garnering international acclaim.

Vallejo's life and work were the subject of a documentary film directed by Luis Ospina in 2003, providing a deeper understanding of his contributions to literature and his unique perspective on the world.
