Largest Baby in India: A Miraculous Birth

21-Year-Old Record Broken

An Indian woman named Firdaus Khatun has given birth to a baby boy weighing an astonishing 7 kg (15.43 pounds), breaking the record for the heaviest baby ever born in India. The extraordinary birth took place in a hospital in Orai, Uttar Pradesh, with the entire labor lasting a remarkable 15 minutes.

Mother's Strength and Determination

Despite her age of 36, Khatun, a mother of eight, carried her heavy baby without any complications. She had previously given birth to all of her children at home, who weighed around 3.5 kg each. This time, however, her husband, Kadir Raza, rushed her to the hospital where the giant baby was delivered.

A Smooth Delivery

Dr. Anjana Gupta, who attended to the birth, exclaimed, "This baby is a miracle. In my 21 years of practice, I have never witnessed a newborn as large as this." She added, "His shoulders got stuck for a few seconds, but within three minutes, the baby was in my hands. He was so big that he couldn't fit entirely in my palms. The baby is simply beautiful."

Mystery Behind the Giant Birth

Healthy Baby Despite Mother's Non-Diabetic Status

The medical team initially observed minor breathing issues in Khatun's son, but both mother and baby are now in good health. It is not uncommon for babies to gain excessive weight in the womb due to the mother's obesity or diabetes. However, Khatun does not have any such conditions.

Dr. Gupta stated, "We don't know why this baby is so big, but he is healthy, and all his parameters are fine."

Baby's Care and Follow-Up

The newborn giant is currently receiving care at Vatsalya Hospital. Doctors are monitoring his condition and preparing to discharge him in five days.

Previous Record Holder

The previous record for the heaviest baby in India was held by Goga Bai from Rajasthan, who gave birth to a 6 kg baby via cesarean section. However, medical professionals believe that her baby's large size was likely due to her diabetes.
