Early Life and Education
Fleur Pellerin, born Kim Jean-Sook in South Korea, was adopted by a French family at the age of six months. She spent her childhood and adolescence in Yvelines, France. At the age of 21, Pellerin graduated from the prestigious ESSEC Business School. She further pursued her studies at the Institute of Political Studies in Paris and, at the age of 24, successfully competed to enter the École Nationale d'Administration (ENA), where she studied from 1998 to 2000.
Early Career
After graduating from ENA, Pellerin joined Comptes des cours, the French Audit Court. In 2006, she became a member of the Socialist Party. Her political career took a significant turn when she joined François Hollande's presidential campaign in 2012, taking on the responsibility of public relations and digital economy.
Government Service
Following Hollande's election victory, Pellerin was appointed Delegate Minister (equivalent to Deputy Minister) for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Innovation, and Digital Economy in the government led by Jean-Marc Ayrault on May 16, 2012. She held this position until April 9, 2014, when she joined Manuel Valls's newly formed cabinet as Minister for Foreign Trade and Tourism Development.
Culture and Communication Minister
On August 26, 2014, after a government reshuffle, Pellerin was appointed Minister of Culture and Communication, succeeding her peer Aurélie Filippetti. She held this position until February 2016.
Personal Life
Pellerin is married to lawyer Laurent Olléon and they have one daughter together.
