German swimmer Florian Wellbrock has achieved remarkable success in both pool and open water events.

Early Achievements

In 2018, Wellbrock won the European Championship in the 1500m freestyle event. He also secured a silver medal in the open water team relay and a bronze in the 800m freestyle.

World Championships

At the 2019 World Championships in Gwangju, South Korea, Wellbrock triumphed in the 10km open water event with a time of 1:47:55.9. He continued his dominance in the pool, claiming gold in the 1500m freestyle, outpacing Ukrainian Mykhailo Romanchuk and Italian Gregorio Paltrinieri.

Olympic Glory

Wellbrock's achievements culminated at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He won gold in both the 800m and 1500m freestyle events, becoming the first German male swimmer to win multiple Olympic gold medals since Michael Groß in 1988. He also earned a bronze medal in the 10km open water event.
