French Political Figure

Early Life and Career

Pierre-Paul La Bourdonnaye was born into a noble family in France. His political career began during the French Revolution. In 1792, he emigrated and joined the Royalist Army of Conde. After the army's disbandment, he joined the Chouan and Vendean rebels, fighting against the revolutionary government.

Return and Reconciliations

With the establishment of the Consulate, La Bourdonnaye reconciled with the new regime and accepted the position of Mayor of Angers. During the Second Restoration, he was elected to the Chamber of Deputies and emerged as a prominent ultra-royalist.

Ministry of the Interior

In 1829, when the Duke of Polignac became Prime Minister, La Bourdonnaye was appointed Minister of the Interior. However, he held the post for only three months before resigning due to disagreements with the government.

Later Career

Despite his brief ministerial tenure, La Bourdonnaye remained an active political figure. He continued to advocate for ultra-royalist policies and opposed the July Monarchy. His career came to an end after the 1830 Revolution, which overthrew the monarchy and established a constitutional government.
