Francis and Margaret Brairley: A British Couple with a Long-lasting Love for Jersey

Francis and Margaret Brierley

Francis and Margaret Brairley, a British married couple, have a strong bond with the island of Jersey. They first met in 1965 at one of the hotels in the Dolan Group chain located in Jersey. Impressed by the excellent service and amenities offered by the hotel, Francis and Margaret became regular guests, returning to the same resort over and over again.

Throughout their visits, Francis and Margaret always stayed at the Hotel Cristina or the Somerville Hotel, both of which are 4-star hotels in the Dolan Group. The couple cherished the memories they made during their stays at these hotels and held a deep affection for the coastal region that brought them together.

While some may find their sentimental attachment to a British resort amusing, Francis and Margaret found great satisfaction in the simple charms of their beloved Jersey coastline. They did not feel the need to venture to exotic destinations like the beaches of the Mediterranean Sea. Instead, they found contentment in the familiar beauty of their cherished Jersey.

Their 90th visit to the island of Jersey was a special occasion for Francis and Margaret. In honor of this unique milestone, the hotel management presented the couple with a truly royal gift - a bill for their weekend stay at the price of 1960. This generous discount of over 90% meant that their vacation, which would have cost £1920 in today's prices, only amounted to £72.

This unexpected surprise delighted the couple, as they had never dreamed of receiving such a gift. For the Brairleys, the hotel held a special place in their hearts, as it was the setting for many happy events throughout their lives. Even without such a generous gesture from the hotel management, the couple would have continued to visit the island, but the thoughtful gift served as a token of appreciation for their loyalty and also provided a little publicity for the Dolan Group.

The chairman of the hotel chain acknowledged that the couple's remarkable loyalty had truly impressed the company's management. By offering such a gift, the hotel sought not only to help their long-standing customers save money but also to transport them back to the blissful 1960s, if only for a moment.

Although Francis and Margaret have no plans to reverse the hands of time, they find joy in indulging in nostalgia while remaining young at heart. They continue to enjoy their visits to Jersey, cherishing the memories they have created and the enduring love that has united them.
