Biography of Frank Chadwick
Frank Chadwick is an American game designer and one of the bestselling authors according to the "New York Times". He has been involved in the creation of hundreds of games, with his most notable works being the role-playing games "Traveller" and "Twilight 2000", as well as the military game series "Europa" and "The Third World War" in which he served as the lead developer.

Early Career and Formation of GDW
Alongside Richard Banner and Marc Miller, Frank Chadwick was a member of the Bloomington-Normal Games Club at Illinois State University. In the club, they focused on developing military games. In response to a university contest for educational projects, they formed a small organization aimed at creating educational games. Although they didn't win the contest, the trio continued to work together, and in June 1973, they established the company "Game Designers' Workshop" (GDW).
Success and Contributions
There is no doubt that Frank Chadwick is a prominent figure in the gaming industry. Since the founding of GDW in the mid-1970s, Chadwick has been the company's chief developer, known for his ambitious projects. His book "Desert Shield Fact Book" achieved unprecedented sales figures, surpassing profit norms and providing financial stability for the following decade. Additionally, with some external assistance, he transformed GDW from a small and inconspicuous company into one of the largest publishers of tabletop games in the market. Chadwick also serves as the president of the Game Manufacturers Association (GAMA), giving his company the ability to reach any corner of the industry.
Contributions to the Gaming Industry
Richard Berg, in the spring 1992 edition of "Berg's Review of Games," describes Frank Chadwick as the Zeus among the Ajaxes in the extensive pantheon of gaming industry heroes. GDW, under Chadwick's leadership, developed several widely acclaimed and award-winning games, including "En Garde!" - one of the first role-playing games, "Space: 1889" which featured a steampunk-inspired setting ahead of its time, and "Twilight 2000".
Later Career and Achievements
GDW Studio continued to thrive until 1996, producing numerous well-known and award-winning games. Chadwick's notable contributions include the publication of "Gulf War Fact Book," where he explored the military capabilities of the United States and Iraq during the Persian Gulf War. The book became a New York Times bestseller and led to Chadwick's appearances on several news programs. Currently, Chadwick writes articles on military and historical topics for the portal greathistory.com. In 1984, he was inducted into the Origins Hall of Fame, recognizing his exceptional contributions to the game industry.
