Biography of Fred Otash
Fred Otash was an American private detective who was known as one of the most notorious private detectives in Hollywood. He specialized in fact-checking and primarily worked with local tabloids. Otash was not afraid to use dirty methods and actively bugged the homes and offices of various celebrities. These eavesdropping devices often provided him with scandalous information. However, it was only 21 years after the detective's death that his collection of compromising materials became public knowledge.

While going through Otash's archives, his daughter Colleen stumbled upon something incredible - exclusive materials about the personal life and mysterious death of Marilyn Monroe. Rumors of Marilyn's affair with President John F. Kennedy had been circulating for a long time, but Otash's materials presented the situation from a completely unexpected angle - Monroe supposedly had a romantic relationship with both Kennedy brothers, John and Robert. The actress was not pleased with this arrangement and complained that the brothers passed her around like a piece of meat.
It is worth noting that among Otash's enemies, as he had annoyed many throughout his career, Kennedy supporters held a special place. Rumors had long circulated that Fred had recorded the intimate conversations between Kennedy and Monroe, but there was no evidence to support these claims. It was only now, half a century after the death of the actress and the president, that the full extent of what Otash's surveillance devices had witnessed was revealed. It turned out that the recordings went beyond intimate scenes, and Otash may have become an indirect witness to Monroe's death. According to Otash's recordings, on August 5, 1962, Monroe had a heated argument with both Kennedy brothers. She was visibly frustrated with her ambiguous status. Monroe became upset, and the brothers attempted to calm her down. Robert Kennedy tried to silence Monroe's loud cries by covering her mouth with a pillow. After a while, Monroe fell silent, while Kennedy suddenly expressed a desire to leave the apartment as soon as possible. Otash only had audio recordings of what occurred in the apartment, as he did not have hidden cameras at his disposal. Therefore, he could not definitively interpret what happened. However, upon learning of Monroe's death, Otash did draw certain conclusions.
Marilyn Monroe was not the only star whose personal life Fred Otash had dug into. The story involving Rock Hudson was particularly memorable. Rumor had it that Otash was hired by Hudson's wife, who wanted to finally determine her husband's sexual orientation. Another case in Otash's archives was dedicated to Judy Garland. It turned out that in 1963, the star of "The Wizard of Oz" had a difficult time dealing with her divorce from her third husband. She had to put in a lot of effort to clean her apartment from alcohol and pills.
Fred Otash even made a cameo appearance in film. The character of Jack Nicholson's character in the award-winning 1974 film "Chinatown" was inspired by him. Later, the renowned writer James Ellroy used Otash's biography as the basis for his book "Shakedown," which is now being adapted into a screenplay. It was Ellroy's book, which portrayed Otash in a rather negative light, that inspired Colleen Otash to dig through her father's archives.
