In 1928, Moore became the Treasurer of the British Chess Federation (BCF), a position he held until 1939. As President, he represented England in chess matters at various international events.
Foundation of FIDE
Moore was a strong advocate for the internationalization of chess. In 1924, upon the establishment of the Fédération Internationale des Échecs (FIDE), he generously donated funds that formed the initial amount of FIDE's permanent fund. This contribution laid the foundation for FIDE's financial stability and allowed the organization to effectively promote chess worldwide.
The Sir Stuart Moore Cup
In 1927, when London hosted the 1st Chess Olympiad, known as the "Tournament of Nations," Moore established, together with his wife Margaret, the Sir Stuart Moore Cup.
