Early Life and Education
Hermann Kluge (1855-1926) was born in Dresden, Germany. As a philologist-germanist, he specialized in the study of Germanic languages, particularly German and English.
Academic Career
In 1879, Kluge was appointed Professor of German and English Philology at the University of Jena. He later held a similar position at the University of Freiburg. Throughout his career, he published extensively on various aspects of Germanic linguistics.
