Early Life and Education

Born and raised in Russia, Avraham Greenbaum embarked on his academic journey at the Leningrad State Pedagogical Institute named after A.I. Herzen, where he pursued a degree in philology.

Zionist Activism and Emigration

In 1960, Greenbaum became an active participant in the Zionist movement, advocating for the establishment of a Jewish state in the Land of Israel. In 1971, he realized his aspirations by making aliyah (immigrating) to Israel.

Academic Career

Upon settling in Israel, Greenbaum joined the Institute of East European Jewish Studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 1976. His groundbreaking research culminated in a PhD in history, awarded in 1991. His doctoral dissertation explored the antisemitic literature of 20th-century Russia and its connection to the infamous "Protocols of the Elders of Zion."
