Early Career and Domestic Success
Gabriel Torres, a renowned Panamanian striker, began his footballing journey with Chepo FC. In his debut season, he emerged as the top scorer of the Rommel Fernández Cup, netting an impressive 18 goals. In 2005, he embarked on a loan spell with San Francisco FC, leading them to the Panamanian championship.
International Breakthrough and European Opportunities
Torres made his international debut for Panama in 2005 and scored his first goal for the national team in 2006. His impressive performances at the club level earned him trials with Valencia (Spain) and Manchester United (England) in 2007.
Copa Colombia Triumph and South American Stint
That same year, Torres joined La Equidad (Colombia), where he lifted the Copa Colombia trophy. He returned to Chepo FC before spending loan periods with Atlético Huila and América de Cali. In 2011, Torres made the move to Venezuelan club Zamora FC.
Championship Glory at Zamora
In Venezuela, Torres proved to be a prolific goalscorer, helping Zamora win the Primera División title in 2012/2013 and topping the league's scoring charts with 20 goals.
MLS Adventure and Return to Venezuela
Torres signed with the Colorado Rapids (USA) in 2013, making his MLS debut in August. After a successful stint in the United States, he returned to Zamora in 2016, where he once again emerged as the league's top scorer.
Swiss Experience with Lausanne
In 2016, Torres joined Lausanne-Sport (Switzerland). He made his Super League debut in July and scored his first goal for the club a week later.
International Accolades
Torres has been a key member of the Panamanian national team, representing his country at multiple Gold Cup tournaments. In 2013, he was the tournament's leading scorer, helping Panama reach the final. In 2015, he won the bronze medal as Panama finished third.
