Transfer to Blackburn Rovers
On January 10, 2009, French newspaper L'Equipe reported that Givet had arrived in England to finalize a six-month loan deal with Blackburn Rovers. Four days later, Sky Sports announced that Blackburn had signed Givet on a six-month contract. The transfer was confirmed by Marseille on January 15.
Debut and Departure from Marseille
Givet made his debut for Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup against Sunderland on February 4, 2009, in a match that ended 2-1. On May 15, 2009, Marseille agreed to sell Givet, who had fallen out of favor with the club.
Permanent Transfer to Blackburn Rovers
On May 26, 2009, Setanta Sports reported that Blackburn Rovers had signed Givet on a four-year contract for a fee of £3.5 million. The defender remained with Blackburn until the end of the 2012-2013 season, making a total of 132 appearances for the club.
