Early Life and Education

The renowned Italian conductor was born into a family of lawyers and initially pursued studies in law. However, his passion for music ultimately led him to abandon his legal aspirations and enroll in conducting lessons under the tutelage of the illustrious maestro Franco Ferrara.

International Triumph

In 1968, the conductor's talent was recognized when he emerged victorious in the prestigious Dimitri Mitropoulos International Conductors' Competition held in New York City. This triumph marked a turning point in his career and propelled him into the international spotlight.

Opera and Orchestral Leadership

From 1975 to 1978, the conductor served as the musical director of the Teatro Massimo in Palermo. His tenure there was marked by innovative productions and collaborations with renowned singers. Subsequently, he moved to the United States where he led the Denver Symphony Orchestra from 1979 to 1986. During this period, he established the Denver Symphony Chorus and made a notable recording of Verdi's Requiem.
