Niyazi

Early Life and Education

Niyazi was an Azerbaijani poet and granddaughter of Jafargholi Khan Sarjali-Javanshir. She graduated from a girls' gymnasium in Shusha.

Literary Career

Her talent was recognized by the esteemed poet Khurshidbanu Natavan, who bestowed upon her the pseudonym "Sheyda." Despite her prolific output, only a fraction of her works have survived.

Preserved Manuscripts

Today, two manuscripts from 1918 are housed in the Institute of Manuscripts of the Azerbaijani Academy of Sciences. These include the ghazal "Aghan Jani" and the play "Flood of Misery" (in Azerbaijani, "Zulmun dağları").
