Biography of Gao Jun

Gao Jun, a talented table tennis player, was born on January 25, 1969, in Dalian, China. She started playing table tennis at the age of five and trained rigorously at a sports school, only going home on Sundays. Despite her parents' disapproval of her lifestyle, Gao continued her training and soon started participating in international and regional competitions.

In 1992, Gao became a double champion and a silver medalist in Chinese competitions, earning recognition at a global level. Around the same time, she decided to enhance her skills and moved to the United States. In 1994, Gao arrived in the US and began representing the American team, participating in competitions in 1997 and 2000.

Gao's participation in the Olympic Games in 1992, 2000, and 2004 played a significant role in her sporting career. She showcased her exceptional talent and garnered attention from fans and table tennis experts. Currently, Gao is competing in the 2008 Summer Olympics, hoping for victory and eagerly awaiting her own performances.

Throughout her time in the American national team, there were debates within the sporting community about Gao's participation on the US side. The International Table Tennis Federation recently approved a rule requiring athletes to reside in a country for a certain period before competing for that nation, preventing others from following Gao's example.
