Biography of Gary Starkweather

Gary Starkweather, a renowned engineer and talented inventor, is best known as the creator of the laser printer. He received an excellent education, graduating from the University of Michigan in 1960 with a prestigious Bachelor's degree in Physics. Later, Starkweather enrolled in the Rochester University, excelling in the field of optics and obtaining a Master's degree in the same field.

Throughout his career, Starkweather dedicated over four decades to scientific research, with a primary focus on creating various imaging technologies. His inventive spirit and unique capabilities were demonstrated by the registration of 44 patents.

In 1962, Starkweather began working at Bausch & Lomb, and two years later, he joined the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center. It was during this period that he finally received permission to develop and implement his own ideas, leading him to work on the creation of the laser printer.

In 1988, Starkweather collaborated with Apple Computer, delving into the intricacies of color printing. Additionally, he worked as a consultant for companies such as Pixar and Lucasfilm. Currently, the inventor is employed at the renowned Microsoft Research, where he focuses on studying various information processing issues and works on innovative display projects.
