Childhood and Early Career

Gaston Alberto Tuseth was born on October 19, 1942, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. From a young age, he aspired to become an actor and made his first steps in the industry in Argentina and Venezuela. However, he did not attain significant success until he relocated to Mexico in the mid-1970s.

Breakthrough in Mexico

Upon arriving in Mexico, Tuseth joined the theater and occasionally continued to perform onstage. At the age of 36, he made his Mexican television debut in a supporting role in the telenovela "Viviana." He went on to feature in several feature films and gained fame as a supporting actor in soap operas. Tuseth preferred comedies and melodramas, often portraying positive characters.

International Recognition

Tuseth's international breakthrough came with the telenovela "The Rich Also Cry," which revolutionized television and became a phenomenon in the Soviet Union. He played the role of Dr. Suarez, alongside Veronica Castro as the lead. Another notable project was "Wild Rose," where he portrayed Roque Mendizabal, also with Veronica Castro in the lead role.

Throughout his career, Tuseth appeared in 32 films and television shows, including "Nobody but You," "My Second Mother," and "Chains of Love." He retired from acting in 2014 but continued to work behind the scenes.

Directing and Cultural Work

In addition to acting, Tuseth had a passion for directing. He directed ten telenovelas and helped select filming locations for another. His longest-running project was the Mexican sitcom "Rosa Guadalupe," on which he worked for 13 years. In 2007, he was nominated for a TVyNovelas Award for directing the telenovela "Two Faces of Passion."

Tuseth also collaborated with the National Institute of Fine Arts and the National Institute of Culture. As part of a program promoting reading, he traveled through Mexican states with the works of local authors.

Personal Life and Legacy

Little is known about Tuseth's wife or children. According to friends, he was a heartthrob in his personal life, known for his humor, zest for life, and loyalty. He had close friendships with Mexican stars such as Margarita Gralia, Miguel Angel Herranz, Leonardo Daniel, and Constantino Costas.

Tuseth passed away on May 1, 2023, in Mexico City, six months shy of his 81st birthday. He had been battling kidney cancer for the past five years but continued to work throughout his illness. The National Association of Actors and the National Association of Translators of Mexico announced his death on social media. The official cause of death has not been released.

A farewell ceremony was held for Tuseth the following day. As per his will, his remains were cremated and interred in a columbarium of a funeral home. Tuseth's sole relative and inheritor is his nephew, Guillermo Olivetti Tuseth, who resides in Argentina.
