Biography of Hennadiy Orbu

Hennadiy Orbu is a Ukrainian footballer, born on August 15, 1972. He began his professional football career playing for the second division club "Bazhanovec" in Makeevka.

Success with Shakhtar Donetsk

After a successful season, Orbu was invited by Valeriy Yaremchenko to join the "Shakhtar" team in Donetsk. He played for the team for four seasons and achieved notable accomplishments. During this time, he became the silver medalist of the Ukrainian championship in the 1993-1994 season and won the Ukrainian Cup in 1995 and 1997. Orbu also became the author of Shakhtar's 200th goal in Ukrainian championships, which occurred on August 11, 1995, in a match against "Kremen" from Kremenchuk.

Move to Rotor and Return to Shakhtar

In 1996, Orbu received an invitation from Viktor Prokopenko to join the Russian Premier League team "Rotor" in Volgograd. In his first season, he became the bronze medalist of the Russian championship. In 1997, Valeriy Yaremchenko returned as the head coach of Shakhtar and invited Orbu to come back. During his second stint with Shakhtar, Orbu became the silver medalist of the Ukrainian championship twice.

Transfer and Retirement

On July 16, 2000, a quarrel between Orbu and Prokopenko occurred during a match against Kiev's "CSKA," resulting in Orbu being put up for transfer. From August to October 2000, he played for "Vorskla" in Poltava, Ukraine. He scored one goal from a free kick in a match against Kiev's "Dynamo." In January 2001, Orbu signed a contract with the Russian Premier League team "Sokol" in Saratov. However, he left the team shortly after the arrival of Leonid Tkachenko. Soon after, he decided to retire.

Coaching Career

Since 2003, Orbu has been working as a coach and scout for the "Shakhtar" team in Donetsk. He also represented the national team of Ukraine from 1994 to 1997, playing 17 matches. His first game was on November 13, 1994, in a qualifying match for the 1996 European Championship against the Estonian national team. His last game was on May 7, 1997, in a qualifying match for the 1998 FIFA World Cup against the Armenian national team.
