Academic and Professional Achievements
Dr. Hennadiy Knyshov is a renowned cardiothoracic surgeon with an impressive list of academic and professional credentials. He earned his Doctor of Medical Sciences degree in 1975, professorship in 1984, and became an academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (2006), the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine (1994), and the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences.
He has served as the Director of the N.M. Amosov Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery since 1988, Head of the Department of X-ray Surgical Methods of Treatment of Acute Coronary Failure since 1993, and Head of the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery at the P. Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education since 1992.
Educational and Research Contributions
Dr. Knyshov has performed over 5,000 heart surgeries and has authored around 400 scientific publications. He co-authored the textbook "Hospital Surgery" (1999) and has six monographs to his credit, including "Cybernetics of Cardiac Surgery" (1984), "Acquired Heart Defects" (1997), and "Cardiovascular Insufficiency" (2000).
He has also developed 12 inventions and has guided 21 doctoral and 10 doctoral candidates.
Leadership and Honors
Dr. Knyshov has made significant contributions to the field of cardiac surgery. He was the President of the Association of Cardiovascular Surgeons of Ukraine (1991), Head of the Expert Council on Surgical Diseases of the Higher Attestation Commission of Ukraine (1993-1998), and a member of the European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (1960) and the American Association for Thoracic Surgery (1993). In recognition of his remarkable achievements, he was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine.
Early Life and Education
Dr. Hennadiy Knyshov was born on August 6, 1934, in Debaltseve, Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine. He graduated from Debaltseve Secondary School No. 3.
