Naturalist and Philosopher
Karl Jakob Franz Bükua was an Austrian naturalist and philosopher. Born into an aristocratic family, he attended the Noble Academy in Vienna, where he pursued studies in mathematics, physics, and chemistry.
Inheritance and Scientific Pursuits
Upon inheriting a substantial fortune from his uncle, Bükua embarked on extensive travels. In 1806, he returned to his ancestral estates in Bohemia, where he dedicated himself to scientific endeavors and managed his numerous factories.
Glass Production and Innovations
Bükua's glassworks gained particular renown. He produced exquisite crystal, colored glass, and an invention of his own: hyalite. His first scientific publication, "Analytical Determination of the Law of Virtual Velocities in Mechanical and Statistical Aspects" (1812), reflected his early adherence to corpuscular theory.
Schellingian Philosophy
In subsequent works, Bükua embraced the Naturphilosophie movement of Friedrich Schelling. Notable among these writings are:

- "On the Philosophy of Nature" (1845)- "Principles of a New Cosmology" (1851)
Publication and Patronage
Bükua self-published all of his works and distributed them free of charge to those interested in his ideas. Through his writings, he sought to promote his philosophical and scientific views, which often defied conventional wisdom.
