Biography of Georgia Brown
Georgia Brown, whose real name was Lillian Claire Laizer Getel Klot, was a British actress and singer born in 1933 in the East End of London. She came from a family of Jewish immigrants, Mark and Annie Kirschenbaum Klot.

Early Love for Jazz Music
From a young age, Georgia Brown was enamored with jazz music. She borrowed her stage name from the title of the popular 1925 recording "Sweet Georgia Brown" by Ben Bernie's orchestra.

Early Career
In the mid-1950s, Georgia Brown gained recognition after her participation in the London production of "The Threepenny Opera" at the Royal Court Theatre. This catapulted her to become a popular actress outside of the Broadway scene, embodying several notable roles such as Lucy in "The Threepenny Opera" and Nancy in the musical "Oliver!" In 1963, she made her Broadway debut reprising the role of Nancy, earning her a Tony Award nomination. Initially, the role was intended for Alma Cogan, but she was unable to play it.
Transition to Film
In the 1960s, Georgia Brown also ventured into film. In 1968, she appeared in the British drama "The Fixer." She delivered one of her finest performances in the 1971 romantic drama "The Raging Moon" as Sarah, which earned her a BAFTA Award nomination. She received an Emmy nomination in 1982 for her role in the TV series "Cheers."
Return to Broadway
In the 1970s, Georgia Brown returned to Broadway, securing a role in the 1977 production of "Side by Side by Sondheim." Two years later, she played the lead role in the musical "Carmelina." Her last Broadway appearance was in the 1989 production of "3 Penny Opera." Prior to that, she had leading roles in "Roza" in 1987 and the production "Georgia Brown and Friends" in 1982, where she portrayed herself.
Filmography and Television
Georgia Brown had an extensive film and television career, appearing in over thirty movies and TV shows. In addition to the big screen, she featured in television series such as "Faerie Tale Theatre," "Murder, She Wrote," "Star Trek: The Next Generation," "Baby Talk," and others.
Legacy and Passing
Georgia Brown released several music albums, including "The Many Shades of Georgia Brown" and "Georgia Brown Sings Gershwin." Sadly, she passed away on July 5, 1992, in London at the age of 59. The cause of death was complications following intestinal surgery.
