Georgina Chapman, an English actress and fashion designer, co-founded the fashion brand 'Marchesa' with her friend Keren Craig, who is also an actress and former model. Chapman was born on April 14, 1976, in London, England. She grew up in Richmond, one of the most beautiful and thriving districts of West London.
Early Life and Career
At the age of thirteen, Chapman formed her own band called 'Jesus and Mary Jane'. She rented an apartment in the Shepherd's Bush area during her college years and lived there until recently, accompanied by her dog Rocky. When she turned twenty, Chapman, who stands at 179 cm tall, ventured into the modeling business and appeared in advertisements for 'Head & Shoulders' shampoo.
Chapman met her future business partner Keren Craig while they were both students at Chelsea College of Art and Design. In 2001, Chapman graduated from Wimbledon School of Art and started her career as a costume designer. She also began acting in television shows and films after school. Her first acting experience came in 2001 when she played the role of Eve in the short film 'Desire'. This was followed by several modest roles in television movies, including the Bollywood melodrama 'Bride & Prejudice' and the British detective series 'Rosemary & Thyme'. Additionally, in 2005, she had a small role in Woody Allen's drama 'Match Point'.
In 2007, Chapman found herself on the same set as Scarlett Johansson once again, starring in 'The Nanny Diaries'. Over the course of six years, she appeared in 17 films and TV series, but never played a truly notable role. Her last work in this field was the 2007 thriller 'Awake'.
Marchesa and Personal Life
In 2004, Chapman and Craig founded the fashion brand 'Marchesa', which they named after the socialite Marchesa Luisa Casati. The new company received investment from Giuseppe Cipriani and Steven C. Witkoff. In 2006, the label made it to the top ten finalists of the 'Vogue' Fashion Fund and the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
In 2008, Chapman and Craig designed a wedding dress worth £100,000 for the bride of footballer Wayne Rooney from Manchester United. Celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez, Anne Hathaway, Sienna Miller, Jessica Alba, Eva Longoria, and Naomi Watts are among the fans of their elegant and feminine evening dresses.
From 1997 to 2003, Chapman was in a long-term relationship with fashion icon Miles Chinn. In December 2004, she began dating film producer Harvey Weinstein after he separated from his first wife. Weinstein is 24 years older than Chapman. They got married on December 15, 2007, in Connecticut. The couple splits their time between a townhouse in West Village, a coastal home in Westport, Connecticut, and a mansion in Los Angeles. They have two children together, daughter India Pearl Weinstein (born on August 30, 2010) and son Dashiell Max Robert Weinstein (born on April 11, 2013).
