Early Career

Georgi Kinkladze began his career with FC Dinamo Tbilisi. In the 1993/94 season, he joined FC Saarbrücken in the German second division, but played only 11 matches.

Transfer to Boca Juniors and Madrid Trial

Unexpectedly, Kinkladze transferred to Boca Juniors in Argentina, where he played with Diego Maradona. After three matches, he went on trial with Atlético Madrid in Spain, but ultimately did not join the club.

Premier League Debut with Manchester City

With rumors of interest from Real Madrid, Kinkladze joined Manchester City in 1994/95. Nicknamed "Kinky" by the fans, he quickly became a crowd favorite with his exceptional technique and passing ability. Despite his contributions, Manchester City was relegated to the second division.

Transfer to Ajax and Short Spell at Derby County

After two seasons at Manchester City, Kinkladze was sold to Ajax for $8.3 million. Despite playing alongside fellow Georgian Shota Arveladze, he struggled to break into the starting lineup due to injury. In 1999/00, he joined Derby County in the English Premier League.

Derby County and Injuries

At Derby County, Kinkladze became a key player but suffered injuries that limited his playing time. Despite his talent, the team was relegated in 2001/02. Kinkladze remained with the club and was named Player of the Year in 2002/03.

Career Decline and Retirement

After his contract expired, Kinkladze had unsuccessful trials with several clubs. He eventually joined Anorthosis Famagusta in Cyprus in 2005 and later moved to FC Rubin Kazan. Injuries and the quality of his teams prevented him from reaching his full potential. Nonetheless, he remains a legend among Manchester City fans for his brief but brilliant spell at the club.
