Early Life and Military Service
Nikolai Trusov was a notable Soviet state and political figure. He completed accounting courses in 1918 and subsequently joined the Red Army, serving until 1924. In 1919, he became a member of the Russian Communist Party (Bolsheviks).
Education and Professional Career
In 1931, Trusov graduated from the textile faculty of the Industrial Academy. He then served as director of the V.M. Molotov Industrial Academy from 1931 to 1935. In 1932, he completed the Moscow Textile Institute externally. From 1935 to 1938, he headed the Main Directorate of Educational Institutions for Light Industry of the USSR. In 1938-1940, he held the position of deputy general commissioner and chairman of the artistic council of the Soviet section of the International Exhibition in New York City.
Diplomatic Career
In 1940, Trusov entered the diplomatic service. He headed the Consular Department of the People's Commissariat for Foreign Affairs (NKID) of the USSR. From 1941 onwards, he led the Department of Latin American Countries (or the Department of the United States of America, according to some sources) of the NKID. He played a role in preparing for the evacuation of the People's Commissariat's archives. On March 23, 1944, he was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the USSR to Canada, presenting his credentials on June 8, 1944. On September 28, 1946, he became Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the USSR to the United Kingdom, presenting his credentials on January 23, 1947. Trusov participated in establishing diplomatic relations between the USSR and the Union of Burma. From June 14, 1952, to January 7, 1958, he served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the USSR to the United States, presenting his credentials on September 25, 1952. On January 4, 1958, he was appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the USSR. Trusov was a candidate member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union from 1952 to 1958.
