Biography of Giambattista Valli

Giambattista Valli was born in 1966 in Rome, Italy. In 1986, he enrolled at the Istituto Europeo del Design in Rome to study fashion design. The following year, Giambattista also took an illustration course at the Central St. Martin's School of Arts in London.

After completing his education, Valli started working at Roberto Capucci's studio. Through this collaboration, he gained insights into the secrets of couture fashion. In 1990, he was appointed as the head designer of the fashion house Fendi, overseeing the creation of the "Fendissime" line. As he climbed the career ladder, Valli also had the opportunity to work on "Prêt-a-Porter" collections.

Later on, the designer embarked on a journey to several countries, which greatly influenced his creativity. After returning from his trip, he started incorporating ethnic elements into his new collections. In 1995, Giambattista Valli moved to Milan, where he became the chief designer of the women's clothing line at Krizia fashion house. Two years later, he relocated to Paris and began collaborating with Emanuel Ungaro.

In 2001, Valli was appointed as the creative director, overseeing the creation of the "Prêt-a-Porter" line and accessories. In 2005, he presented his first collection under his own brand at Paris Fashion Week.
