The Journey to Professional Wrestling

Despite his lack of success in the NBA, González caught the attention of Ted Turner, the owner of the Atlanta Hawks and one of the branches of the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), which later became known as World Championship Wrestling (WCW). Turner invited González to try his hand at professional wrestling.

Professional Wrestling Career

In 1989, González began training for wrestling, adapting his athletic skills to the new sport. He made his debut in May 1990 under the ring name El Gigante. He quickly became a prominent figure in WCW and frequently battled against the Four Horsemen, a popular wrestling faction at the time.

González played a significant role in Sting's victory and the acquisition of the NWA World Heavyweight Title. He fought against the Four Horsemen alongside Sting and other wrestlers in various matches.

Despite his limited appearances in major shows like NWA or WCW, González continued to improve his wrestling skills and remained involved in his ongoing war against the Four Horsemen.

Later Life and Legacy

In 1991, González began gaining more recognition and success in wrestling, particularly in his feud with Sid Vicious. He defeated Sid Vicious at the SuperBrawl tournament with his signature move, "The Claw."

In his later years, González suffered from diabetes and other health issues related to his immense height. He passed away on September 22, 2010, in San Martin, Chaco, at the age of 44.
