Gilda Yoviane: Model, Actress, and Painter
Early Life and Modeling CareerGilda Yoviane was born Gilda E. Gross Reyes on February 10, 1981, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Growing up, she was inspired by her grandmother, who worked as one of Oscar de la Renta's first seamstresses. At the age of 15, Yoviane entered the modeling industry, participating in fashion shows throughout the Dominican Republic, New York City, and Puerto Rico. She graced magazine covers, billboards, and catalogs, and featured in several commercials.
Pageantry Success
In 1999, Yoviane competed in the Miss Latina International pageant in New York City and emerged victorious. The following year, she won the Miss Dominican Republic 2000 crown, representing the Constanza municipality. She went on to represent her country at the Miss Universe 2000 pageant in Cyprus and the Miss World 2000 pageant in London, notably wearing blue gowns for most of her appearances.
Acting and Education
After her pageant success, Yoviane pursued an acting career. She has appeared in several plays and films, including "Perico ripiao" (2003) and "Sanky Panky" (2007).
Artistic Pursuits
Yoviane's passion for painting began during her time in New York City, where she attended the Barbizon School. She holds a degree in Public Relations from the Ibero-American University in Santo Domingo, but it is her artwork that brings her the most fulfillment. Her paintings have been exhibited at New York galleries such as Salon 94 and Art Gotham.
