Biography of Giovanni Angeleri
Giovanni Angeleri is an Italian violinist and conductor. He studied at the Padua Conservatory under Piero Tozzo and also took lessons from Salvatore Accardo and Michael Frischenschlager. In 1997, he achieved victories at international violin competitions in Zagreb, named after Václav Huml, and in Genoa, named after Paganini.
Playing "Il Cannone"
Impressed by Angeleri's performance, the Municipality of Genoa granted him the opportunity to play Paganini's violin, "Il Cannone," made by Guarneri del Gesù in 1742. This was a great honor for Angeleri, as the violin had once belonged to Paganini himself.
Repertoire and Achievements
Paganini's music holds a significant place in Angeleri's repertoire, along with other virtuosic compositions by Wieniawski and Sarasate. Since 1998, Angeleri has also served as the concertmaster and conductor of the Venice Orchestra.
