Early Life and Career

Giovanni Viola was born in Bagnolo Mella, Italy. He began his football career with Juventus in 1946, where he debuted in the first team against Atalanta. However, he was initially loaned out to several lower-tier clubs, including Carrarese, Como, and Lucchese.

Return to Juventus and Success

After his successful loan spells, Viola returned to Juventus in 1950. He became a key player for the team, making 242 appearances over nine seasons. During this time, he won three Serie A titles, including the 1957-1958 season, despite playing only one match that year.

National Team Career

Viola made his debut for the Italian national team in 1954 against Switzerland. He participated in Italy's unsuccessful 1954 World Cup campaign and went on to play in a tour of South America in 1956. In total, he made 11 appearances for the Azzurri.

Coaching Career

Following his retirement from playing, Viola became a youth coach for Juventus. He helped develop some of the club's future stars, including Dino Zoff and Roberto Bettega.
