Biography of Gleb Bobrov
Early Life and Military ServiceGleb Bobrov, a Russian writer and journalist, was born into a family of educators. After completing secondary school, he was conscripted into the ranks of the Soviet Army. He served in the 860th Regiment of the 40th Army in Afghanistan, specifically in Faizabad, Badakhshan Province, where he specialized as a sniper. Bobrov was awarded the DRA Medal for Bravery for his service.
Post-Military Career
Following his demobilization in February 1985, Bobrov returned to his homeland and began his professional career. He worked as a teacher for basic military training, as an artist, and as a manager. In 2002, he transitioned into journalism. Since 1992, Bobrov has been writing prose based on his military experience. His works have been published in various magazines, including "Pod'yom," "Zvezda," and the anthology "We Are from ArtOfWar." He is also the author of Maxim Moshkov's electronic library.
Journalism and Political Activism
Bobrov's journalistic and public activities have led him to engage in political commentary. In 2005, he co-authored the book "Taras Shevchenko - The Godfather of Ukrainian Nationalism" with K.V. Derevyanko and N.A. Grekov. He received the "Debut-2005" prize from the magazine "Zvezda" (St. Petersburg) for his story "Alien Thermopylae."
Literary Works
In 2007, the publishing house "Eksmo" in Moscow released the book "Soldier's Saga," which included all of Bobrov's "Afghan" prose. In 2008, the novel "Epoch of Stillborns," a hypothetical dystopian account of a civil war in Ukraine, was published by "Yauza"/"Eksmo" in Moscow and caused significant public resonance.
Personal Life and Current Residence
Bobrov currently resides in Luhansk, Ukraine. He is married and has two children. He is a member of the Union of Writers of Russia and serves as the chief editor of the resource okopka.ru.
