Early Life and CareerGloria Mildred DeHaven was born in Los Angeles on July 23, 1925, to actor and director Carter DeHaven and actress Flora Parker DeHaven. Her acting debut came as a child in Charlie Chaplin's "Modern Times" (1936). In the early 1940s, she signed with MGM, but despite roles in successful films like "Susan and God" (1940), "The Thin Man Goes Home" (1944), "Summer Holiday" (1948), and "Summer Stock" (1950), she never achieved the status of a top movie star.
Television and Legacy
In 1950, DeHaven played her mother, Mrs. DeHaven, in the musical film "Three Little Words." She had an active television career from the 1950s to the 1990s, appearing in shows such as "As the World Turns," "The Defenders," "Burke's Law," "All My Children," "Murder, She Wrote," and "Touched by an Angel." For her contributions to film, DeHaven was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Personal Life
DeHaven was married four times, including to actor John Payne (1944-1950), and had four children. All her marriages ended in divorce. DeHaven passed away in late July 2016 in Las Vegas, a week after her 91st birthday.
